SILVER TROUSERS MANIA

There it was, the statement I had been looking for, simply, truthfully and audaciously shouted by my friend, (who wishes to remain anonymous) the f*** silver trousers mania. Call it futuristic influence, and yes I'm blaming you silicon valley, by bringing sci fi back in fashion, but here it is and maybe it is here to stay?

If by now you haven't noticed these shiny pieces that are making statements, in fact, it seems that in particular, silver pants are the street style winners, finding their way at events across the globe, including fashion weeks.

But what are the best metallic pants styles out there? And how do you style this statement piece once you’ve added it to your wardrobe? Here is my guide I hope can inspire you on how to wear metallic pants. Shiny accessories always make a grand statement, but shimmering trousers have found their spot as fashion favorites for their versatility. Once you’ve found yourself a pair that works for your body shape and style, the options to style them are countless.

What to wear with metallic pants:

White shirt: Ready to give formal wear a funky spin? Try pairing your pants with a crisp white shirt. I would change the classic button-down for an oversized piece for a cooler touch.

Black blouse: Black works well with all metallic pieces, and makes a great choice for evening styling in particular. Tuck your favorite black silk blouse into your metallic trousers for that next night out.

T-shirt: Shiny pants are statement-makers by themselves, so the easiest way to make them more casual is to match them with a pared down staple like a black or white T-shirt. Try this for your next dinner party.

Metallic top: For go-big-or-go-home occasions, there’s nothing like a matching metallic ensemble. Pair your extravagant trousers with an even more extravagant top ideally in the same hue for a streamlined look, or go wild and mix shades for that all in drama.

Cashmere jumper: To oppose drama, wear your silver trousers with your favourite and ideally oversized cashmere jumper to create that nonchalant attitude.

Blazer: For those who are a bit uneased by the attention the shimmering trousers are echoing, (myself included) can always tone the extravaganza down a bit by adding a serious blazer.

They're made from pure cotton denim, 80% of which is regenerative and 20% recycled from post-consumer sources coated with an iridescent finish.
